We accept applications for EMT-I/P and EMT-Basic positions on an ongoing basis. As a Medic (EMT-I/P) with Priority Patient Transport, you’ll be held to a high standard. In this position, you have the opportunity to use advanced protocols to provide a high level of care to our patients.
EMT-Basic employees also are expected to have solid patient care skills. You have the opportunity to provide care during transports, and you’ll train alongside our advanced life support providers. Count on us to encourage and assist you in advancing your certification in any way we can.
We offer shifts in length from 8 to 12 hours on a rotating schedule. Benefits include generous paid leave, health, vision and dental insurance, company administered 401k, short term disability insurance, AFLAC programs, online CE courses that interface with both Virginia OEMS and National Registry systems, and assistance with the cost of certification classes. Uniforms are provided at no cost as well.
A clean driving record is required of all employees. Our employees are expected to have an excellent bedside manner and skills for dealing with the public and other healthcare providers. ACLS and PALS certification is required for advanced level applicants. We also recommend PEPP, AMLS, and BTLS/PHTLS.
Prior to hire, applicants will undergo an interview, drug test, background screening, driving record check, verification that you are not on CMS’s exclusion list and a Physical Aptitude Test designed specifically for our industry. Once hired, new employees are brought in to an orientation session, spend time with both our dispatch and billing departments and are assigned a Field Training Officer who will provide guidance and training on applying company policy and procedure to your daily work.

Priority Patient Transport is seeking to hire a wheelchair van operator. As our wheelchair transport division has grown, we find that more and more customers are seeking out Priority Patient Transport because of our reputation for having reliable and friendly staff! Customers know they will be treated with respect and that our staff has the training and equipment necessary to transport them safely.
Shifts are available Monday through Saturday and will vary based on need. Operators of our wheelchair services are responsible for the safe and comfortable transportation of clients between home or care facilities and appointments.
Requirements:
- Friendly, customer-service oriented attitude
- Clean Driving Record
- Ability to secure patient using wheelchair restraints (Requires bending/lifting)
- Ability to safely transfer patients to and from wheelchairs (Requires bending/lifting)
- Lifting and Carrying of equipment and belongings (Requires bending/lifting)
- Ability to pass pre-hire screening including drug testing
- Ability to use a computer for documentation of transport data
- CPR Certification or ability/willingness to obtain upon hire
Preference shown to candidates with:
- Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification
- Experience in transportation industry
- Flexibility of schedule (Early morning hours will be required)

Priority Patient Transport is a full-service ambulance transport company with offices serving the Shenandoah Valley and Charlottesville regions of Virginia. We offer wheelchair, BLS, ALS and Specialty Care transport services.
Priority Patient Transport accepts applications from BLS and ALS providers on an ongoing basis. Part time and full time positions are available. A good driving record is a must.
Job Duties:
- Emergency Vehicle operations
- Patient care in emergent, non-emergent and palliative environments
- Proper documentation using field documentation software
- Unit and equipment check-off procedures
- Daily station chores
- Other tasks as required such as wheelchair transports or maintenance tasks.
Job Requirements:
- EMT-Basic, EVOC and CPR certifications
- Strong written and spoken communication abilities
- Ability to perform physical aspects of the job safely:
- Transferring patients from bed to stretcher
- Loading patient on stretcher into ambulance
- Carrying equipment
- Taking patients up and down stairs
- Ability to regularly complete long distance transports
- Infrequent overnight travel on long distance trips
